With tomorrow being Christmas Day, I thought I would use this week’s Article’s 4 Kids to talk about Jesus and Santa Claus.

No matter where you look these days, you will see Santa Claus everywhere.  In public schools, students are allowed to talk and sing about Santa, but not Jesus.  Many schools are also teaching students about Kwanza which is a holiday created in 1966 with the purpose of giving black people an alternative holiday celebration so that they don’t have to acknowledge the birth of Jesus Christ.

On the lawns of government buildings, we are allowed to display images of Santa, but not Jesus.  And like many public schools, many government officials are publicly acknowledging the pagan holiday of Kwanza, but not the birth of Jesus Christ.

How many stores have a Santa Claus to greet kids with the sole purpose of boosting sales?  Walk through the stores and notice all of the Santa displays and then look around for any nativity displays of the baby Jesus lying in the manger.  A couple years ago, I asked the management of several large retail stores why they didn’t have any displays or references to the birth of Jesus Christ which is what Christmas is all about.  I was repeatedly told that they didn’t want to offend anyone who wasn’t a Christian and secular advertising and displays produce more sales.  What’s wrong with our country when we are afraid of offending a minority who don’t believe in any of the principles our nation was founded on?  Instead, they chose to offend the majority of Americans who just remain silent and let the screaming few get their way.

Because of the increased popularity of Santa Claus at Christmas time, I thought I would share this comparison between Santa and Jesus:

Santa lives at the North Pole…
     JESUS is everywhere.

Santa rides in a sleigh…
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year…
JESUS is with us every second of every day.

Santa goes away after Christmas…
JESUS is with us all year long.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies…
     JESUS supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited…
JESUS stands at your door and knocks, and then enters your heart
     when invited.

You have to wait in line to see Santa…
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap…
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn’t know your name, all he can say is “Hi little boy or girl, what’s your name?”…
JESUS knew our name before we were born.  Not only does He know our
name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and
He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly…
JESUS has a heart full of love

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO…
    JESUS offers eternal salvation.

Santa says “You better not cry”…
JESUS says “Cast all your cares on me for I care for you.”

Santa make toys…
JESUS created the world and all of life including man.

Santa may make you chuckle but…
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree…
JESUS became our gift and died on a tree…the cross.

The real Santa (St. Nicholas) died years ago and is still dead.
JESUS died on the cross and rose from the dead and lives forever.
