Some object to the Bible because of the scientific theory of origins known as “the Big Bang.” In their mind, science has shown conclusively that God didn’t create the universe as the Bible suggests, but an explosion known as the Big Bang brought the universe as we know it into existence.
But is this true? Let’s take a closer look.
What is the Big Bang?
“Big Bang” is a term used to describe one theory of the origin of the universe. This theory proposes that around 14 billion years ago the universe began as a “tiny, infinitely hot and dense point called a singularity.”1 From this original point, the universe began to expand, and over time stars, galaxies, planets, and life began to form.2
Evaluating the Big Bang
To properly evaluate the Big Bang, you first need to understand that there are two types of science. Observational science is based on observable, repeatable, testable events in the present. Origins science is not based on observation in the present, but takes present facts and develops theories about the past to explain those facts. Origins science is heavily influenced by the scientist’s worldview.
The Big Bang and creation are both origins science because they deal with the untestable, unobservable past.
The Big Bang has many weaknesses. Before I list a few, it’s important to point out that even secular (non-religious) scientists are beginning to question the validity of this theory. Visit http://www.cosmologystatement.org to read “An Open Letter to the Scientific Community” signed by 218 scientists and engineers and 187 independent researchers.3
Here are some well-known problems with the Big Bang model:
- “The known laws of physics fail to describe how the singularity could exist.”4
- The law of cause and effect is violated. The Big Bang provides no answer for why the singularity exists or the cause for the explosion.5
- When matter is created, an equal amount of antimatter is created. But “the visible universe is comprised almost entirely of matter—with only trace amounts of antimatter anywhere.”6
- Though galaxies in the distant universe should appear in the early stages of development (because we are supposedly seeing them billions of years ago), “images from the Hubble Deep Field show fully-formed galaxies in the early universe.”7
The Big Bang is not as ironclad as many think. The biblical creation model provides a more scientifically sound explanation of our origins given by an eyewitness to all of history—God himself.8

It’s 2332 AD and our greatest fears have been realized. America has been destroyed and all history of her erased. The Global Government, made up of America’s present friends and foes, oppresses the world and hunts down and annihilates any person or group that threatens it.
No one can challenge the great Global Government until a suicidal archaeologist named Adrien Bach finds a black box buried in the remote desert that was Middle America. The other-worldly contents of this box lead him to the truth—about America, the Global Government, and the greatest crime in human history.
Join Adrien on a thrilling, twenty-fourth century ride to uncover the truth and reveal that truth to a world starved of hope, love, and light. And along the way, perhaps you’ll learn something that will change the way you view our twenty-first century world.
The Maker is unlike any novel you’ve ever read. Not only will it entertain you with a fascinating, futuristic story ripped right from today’s headlines, but it will also teach you truths about God.
The Maker integrates answers to some of life’s most challenging questions directly into the story line. How can I know God exists? Is evolution true? How can I find hope in a hopeless world?
But more than this, The Maker is a powerful gift to share with those around you who are struggling to make sense out of life. The Maker is intended to help your friends, family, coworkers and schoolmates see that our Maker is out there, and that he is waiting for them to reach out for him.
The Maker will challenge every seeker with the truth about the true God, the God revealed for us on the pages of the Bible. Interestingly enough, though the story so clearly addresses the existence of God, truth of the Bible, and reality of the resurrected Jesus, the words “Bible,” “God,” and “Jesus” are never used in the story itself!
After the story ends, there are nearly 100 pages of additional material designed to come along side the inquirer and help them see the beauty, love, and truth of the Maker Himself, Jesus Christ. In this bonus material, a section entitled “The Spiritual Top 40” gives answers to 40 of the most common questions asked about Jesus, God, the Bible, science, truth, and the church in our culture today.
