Thanks for your enquiry re “Is there Scriptural backing for the observation of Christmas?”

It is certainly very important that as Christians we base our thinking in every area on Scripture. According to 2 Timothy 3:15-17, Scripture is able to make a person “wise unto salvation” and “thoroughly furnished unto all good works”.

This implies that Scripture contains all the doctrine and moral law we need. Thus, all things necessary for our faith and life are either expressly set down in Scripture or may be deduced by good and necessary consequence from Scripture. So if something is sinful, it will be forbidden by Scripture, either expressly or by logical deduction. Thus if something is not forbidden by Scripture, then it is permissible….
