Aliens?  Probably Not Says Hawking!

I owe our readers an apology for the confusing title I gave to this post.  At the time I posted this title, it made sense to me, but when I started to see some of the comments and feedback, I realized how confusing it was.  If nothing else, it caused a number of our readers to take the time to read the entire article.  We hope and pray that everyone reads the articles we post and link to.

The bottom line is that it proves just how fallible man’s interpretation of things can be, which is why I would much rather trust the infallible Word of God to learn about our origins and history rather than the obviously fallible conclusions of man who suffers from 6000 years of the Curse.

An excellent reference on the subject of aliens and creation is Gary Bates work: Alien Intrusion UFOs and the Evolution Connection

Rotting Fish and Your Ancestors!

From Grover:

I find your site very interesting to say the least. However I would like to point out one error which most people always make and especially preachers and Christians….I’m aware the Bible says Eve was taken from the ”rib” of Adam….mistake!!! The translators innocently made an error there. She was taken from the DNA of ”The Man” Aw-Dam”…the DNA is where the double helix curve of the building blocks of human beings comes from. At the time of the translation, I can see how the rib would have been chosen because at that time, the DNA had not yet been discovered. So as new discoveries are made, adjustments should be made in the teaching of the Bible. No one ever does this so we are left with the ’blind leading the blind’. When an error is made and then discovered, correct it. A real Christian can handle corrections and not feel the need to ’keep it hid’ so no one will know we screwed up.

Grover – We appreciate your feedback on this point, but respectfully disagree with your conclusion.

In Genesis 2:21-22, we read, “Therefore the Lord God caused an heavy sleep

to fall upon the man, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh in stead thereof.  And the rib which the Lord God had taken from the man, made he a woman, and brought her to the man.”

In reality, the rib makes perfect sense.  Based upon his own personal experience, Dr. Carl Wieland discovered that if a rib is removed, but the lining around the rib is left intact, that the rib will grow back in part or wholly.  You read more about Dr. Wieland’s experience and his description of the ability of the rib to regenerate – Regenerating Ribs: Adam and that ‘missing’ rib

Why Does the Universe Look So Old?

From Leonard:

“Why does the universe look so old? First, the most natural understanding from Scripture on the age of the universe is this: The universe looks old because the Creator made it whole.

When He made Adam, Adam was not a fetus; Adam was a man. He had the appearance of a man, which by our understanding would have required time for Adam to get old. But not by the sovereign creative power of God. He put Adam in the garden. The garden was not merely seeds; it was a fertile, fecund, mature garden. The Genesis account clearly claims that God creates and makes things whole”

This statement (as David states, the only paragraphs addressing the issue) actually sidesteps the problem.

That the universe and the earth appear to have age is not as important as their having history.

God might well have created a “whole” earth or universe but to create one with scars is a different matter.

Adam having been created with a polio vaccine scar on his shoulder and an appendectomy scar on his abdomen is a better example of the way we find our earth. Not aged and whole but having history.

Scars and history are not needed in order to have provided us with a “whole” earth. The article does nothing to address this, more troublesome point of age.

Leonard – There is a very good reason we see a scarred earth.  In Genesis 7:21-24 gives us a clue to the scarring we see: “Then all flesh perished that moved upon the earth, both fowl and cattle and beast, and everything that creepeth and moveth upon the earth, and every man.  Everything in whose nostrils the spirit of life did breathe, whatsoever they were in the dry land, they died.  So he destroyed everything that was upon the earth, from man to beast, to the creeping thing, and to the fowl of the heaven: they were even destroyed from the earth. And Noah only remained, and they that were with him in the Ark. And the waters prevailed upon the earth an hundred and fifty days.”

The Genesis Flood completely destroyed the entire surface of the earth and everything upon it.  This was the most massive flood ever on this planet.  To get an idea of the effects it had, just look at all of smaller local floods that occur around the world every year.  They rip up soil and trees and buildings and leave layers of mud and silt.  A number of local floods cut through solid rock leaving new canyons and even side canyons in its wake.  Talk about scarring.  The earth that we see today was scarred about 4500 years ago and continues to experience additional scarring by waters and winds.

As for the apparent age of the universe, I would direct you to an article by Dr. Russell Humphreys: New time dilation helps creation cosmology.  Dr. Humphreys is one of the leading creation cosmologists.
