About Martin Luther (1483-1546)

Father of the Protestant Reformation, Luther was a German priest and professor of theology at the University of Wittenberg. In 1517, he posted his Ninety-five Thesis on the door of the Church in response to the practice of selling indulgences for the remission of sins. Luther stood firmly on the Bible’s teaching that man is saved by faith alone, and not by any works or indulgences. Christians today owe a great deal to the prolific writings and teachings of Martin Luther.
