During my twenty plus years in creation ministry, there are a few questions that I hear asked more than any others. Among the more frequently asked questions is one similar to today’s question that goes something like this, if creation is so scientifically sound, why don’t we hear about all of the scientists that believe in biblical creation?
Seeing this question again, prompted today’s Feed Back.
From: Keith C
Why do we not hear of these great scientist today?
Response:
Thank you Keith for asking your question.
Last year we started featuring creation scientists on Saturdays, but there was very poor response to those articles so we discontinued them. However you can still access them at: Category: Creation Scientists. You can also find a more extensive list of creation scientists, past and present at: Creation scientists and other specialists of interest.
The secular world does not like to admit that the vast majority of fields of science were started by Bible believing young earth scientists. They don’t want you to know about them as it is an embarrassment to them. With scientists like Christiaan Huygens, they will say that they still believed in the biblical account of creation because Darwin had not yet proposed his theory of evolution.
The same is true today. I constantly hear evolutionists claim that there are no reputable scientists that believe in a young earth biblical creation. They say that because their own personal belief will not allow them to. Their prejudices automatically cause them to declare any scientist who believes in a young earth is not a real scientist. If they did admit that creationists were real and reputable scientists it would give creation some credibility and mean that people should actually listen to them and they can’t allow that to happen.
When I worked with a prominent creation ministry, I had the privilege of being in communication with scientists and theologians in many different fields from all over the globe, and I know that the many contacts I had only scratched the surface of how many there really are. I dealt with men and women who believed in a young earth biblical creation from fields of science that includes, biology, parasitology, medicine, microbiology, molecular biology, genetics, geology, geophysics, karstology, chemistry, organic chemistry, botany, agriculture, horticulture, plant physiology, veterinary medicine, human anatomy and physiology, physics, astrophysics, nuclear physics, astronomy, cosmology, rocket science, engineering, information and meteorology. I’ve probably missed some fields or disciplines, but I hope you understand that creation scientists are in virtually every field of science. (My background is in wildlife and fisheries biology and population genetics.)
Many of these men and women work in the secular world and highly respected by their colleagues. You might be surprised to know that there was a group of young earth creationist that worked at one of the government labs that develops nuclear weaponry. Another young earth creationist, Dr Raymond Damadian invented the MRI and nearly won the Nobel Prize for his accomplishment. Many believe that it was his creationist views that kept him from being awarded the Nobel Prize. Dr John Sanford is a well-known geneticist who taught at Cornell University.
Sadly, some of them have to keep their creationist beliefs secret because it would jeopardize their careers, so they often write under pseudonyms to protect their identity. I personally know of several who work in the academic world who have to keep their beliefs hidden.
I’ve seen reports that state there are well over 10,000 scientists worldwide that believe in a young earth biblical creation and the numbers are growing every day. Some believe in biblical creation because of their Christian faith. Others have come to their Christian faith because they realized that evolution is not scientifically possible.
For instance, I studied molecular biology in graduate school from Dr. Richard Lumsden who use to teach at a prominent secular university. He was a firm believer in evolution and was not a Christian. Whenever anyone would try to witness to him about the Bible, Jesus or creation, he would instantly rebuke them, sometimes yell at them and other times would kick them out of his office.
However, one semester he had a graduate student who was studying both molecular biology and statistics. She was a Christian who believed in biblical creation and knew that she could not just witness to Dr Lumsden. One day she met him in his office and asked for his help. She was trying to calculate the probability of a certain molecular process to take place and asked the Doc to help her try to calculate it. After over an hour of working together, Dr Lumsden got frustrated with problem and told the grad student to just accept that it happened.
She was gracious, thanked him for his help and left. But the probability problem continued to plague Dr Lumsden and he kept trying to figure it out. After a couple of weeks, he suddenly realized that the answer was right before him – it couldn’t have happened by random chance. He said the concept hit him hard like a truck because it couldn’t have happened by random evolutionary forces that the only possibility left was creation. That caused him to seek out a friend of his to help him grasp his new realization. His friend shared the biblical account of creation with him and ended up leading Dr Lumsden to Christ.
I read another account of a Russian biologist who was raised in atheistic communist Soviet Union. He had been taught nothing but evolution and thought that this was the only possible explanation. During his later years in college, he started to realize that the biological laws he was being taught contradicted evolution. His instructors told him he was wrong, but the more he studied, the more he saw the impossibility of life evolving. It caused him to start looking for alternative explanations. Eventually, he found a Bible and started reading Genesis, which was the only explanation that made sense to him. The account of creation intrigued him so much that he read the entire Bible and when he had finished reading it, he got down on his knees and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
These true accounts are not isolated incidents but are occurring more and more every day. As for myself, allow me to share my journey with you. In high school, I believed in evolution, but felt that God used it as His process of creation. After my second year of college, I did not consider myself a Christian, but was starting to seriously doubt that evolution could explain the formation of life. I had become a creationist, but not a Christian.
I started challenging my professors at Arizona State University about their evolutionary explanations as they did not match with what the profs were teaching. Needless to say, some of them did not like being challenged and I had some of them tell me to shut up or I would be out of their class. Some of the profs got really ticked off with me as I would preface my answers on their tests by saying that I am responding with the answers they wanted and not those that I believed to be more accurate. When I think back on it, it’s a wonder I was allowed to graduate with my degree.
At the time, my wife was a Christian and I continued to fight against giving my life to Christ even though I still believed in creation. Nearly seven years after getting married, I gave in to the overwhelming urge to finally give my life to Christ. She had about forty family members that had been praying for me all those years and I just couldn’t fight it any longer. Once I accepted Christ and realized that He was the Creator, everything made so much more sense to me.
To reiterate what I said earlier, the reason you have not heard about all of the creation scientists of the past and present is that the secular world doesn’t want you to know about us. But if you start looking on creationists’ websites, you’ll start to learn more about them and come to appreciate the pioneers of science as well as those contending for the faith in today’s secular world.
Testimony – a former youth pastor speaks out! Many Christians face a devastating phenomenon when their kids jettison their faith and walk out of the church, despite years of exposure to Christian culture. Why? The good news is, the answers are not difficult if one has the courage to recognize the problem. Drawing insight as a former atheist, Calvin delivers an eye opening message of encouragement, giving clear directions on overcoming one of the biggest barriers to faith in Christ.
About the Author: A former atheist turned Christian and pastor, Calvin led small groups at a university campus where he saw the negative effects of evolutionary thinking on students. He is a speaker and writer for CMI-Canada and co-host of the the CMI TV program Creation Magazine Live.

Many scriptures explain why many scientist today deny Jesus as creator. here are a few. I Cor.1:19-21, I Cor.2:9-14, I Cor.3: 19,20, Rom. 1:20-22, luke 10:21, IIThes.2:9-11
Satan has deceived this present world Rev.12:9, but only until Jesus returns.
The Church has contributed much to science. The Church has influenced music, art, and architecture, and has an influence on how Western civilization was shaped. The Scientific Revolution as concluded by such historians as A.C. Crombie, David Lindberg, Edward Grant, Stanley Jaki, Thomas Goldstein, and J.L.Heibbron, recognized that many leading scientists were Priests, such as Father Nicholas Steno, father of Geology; Father Athanasius Kircher, father of Egyptology; Father Giambattista Riccioli is the father of modern atomic theory. Jesusits have dominated the study of earthquakes that seismology became known as the Jesuit science. Also there is Roger Bacon, a Franciscan who taught at Oxford and admired for his work in mathematics and optics, and is considered a forerunner of modern scientific method. Bacon wrote extensively on the philosphy of science and the importance of validation by experierment. There are 35 Craters on the Moon named after Jesuit scientists and mathematicians.
