Child Sacrifice and Abortion: A Preview of the Winter 2012 issue of Bible and Spade

They served their idols, which became a snare to them. They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to the demons; they poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.

 –Psalm 106:36-38

History is replete with civilizations which have held morally repugnant attitudes concerning infants and children. Exposing an unwanted child to the elements was a common practice throughout the Roman Empire. The Nazis carried Jewish children off to the killing fields or the gas chambers.  The Aztecs and Mayans sacrificed their children to their pagan gods. Perhaps the most infamous example from the ancient world are the Carthaginians of North Africa, who inherited their barbaric practices of child sacrifice from their ancestors in Canaan/Phoenicia.

Old Testament passages referring to child sacrifice are numerous and somber. The Israelites, delivered from the bondage of Egypt by the holy and mighty hand of the LORD of heaven and earth, were not just guilty of idolatry and unfaithfulness. They were guilty of adopting the horrific Canaanite practice of child sacrifice. In some cases, they attempted to attach this practice to worship of the Lord (Ezekiel 23:39). In other cases, they rejected Yahweh worship altogether, and fully turned themselves over to the gods of Canaan (2 Kings 17:17). Some Israelites stood by and did nothing (Leviticus 20:1-5). As a result, God brought dreadful judgment upon their entire nation (Jeremiah 19:3b-6).

This issue of Bible and Spade is dedicated to this subject and has been created with sober consideration and reflection. It is, perhaps, the most important issue we have ever produced. January is National Right to Life Month, and in the providence of God, the ABR staff is releasing this important issue of Bible and Spade at this time. January 22, 2012 will be the 39th anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision to legalize abortion throughout the United States. Since then, 53 million unborn childrens’ lives have been snuffed out… at the hands of their own parent(s) and so-called physicians. Two parties who are endowed with the moral responsibility to protect children, not destroy them.  With the explicit support of politicians, judges, bureaucrats and millions from the American electorate, modern day child sacrifice is afforded legal protection and government sanction, just as it was in Canaan and Carthage….

The review in Bible in Spade, regarding Child Sacrifice and Abortion, brought about a challenge because I have also done extensive studying in the Bible about abortion. I know for a fact that the scriptures referred to above are pertaining to Molech the god that they would sacrifice their living children to. Solomon was guilty of the same thing, I guess since Solomon had 700 wives and 300 concubines, he probably lost track of how any children he had. These are children that was of age, it’s annoying when people take these scriptures to go against abortion, whereas abortion is the cure for an untimely pregnancy. I cannot imagine people throwing their children in the fire to a idol called Molech. That would be insane, but we do hear about children being sold into sex slavery, and child abuse, not to mention the black market on adoption. Even adoption can be a curse when women that insist on making women give their babies to them instead of murdering them they’ll tell them. When they just want a baby and they would lie and play on the conscious of other women to get them, Adoption should be done willingly, without a grudge or guilt and very prayerfully, in the book of Zech. 5:9 it talks about the stork, actually the stork is known as a dirty bird in the Bible, but we know the stork as the bird that delivers the baby as a modern day clue. How people disregarded the Bible as they do, now having children any kind of way.

Abortion is child sacrifice. It is murdering one’s baby to make one’s own life better. Not only to free oneself of the burden of a child, but to make sure that child is murdered and cannot have a life with anyone else either, can never experience love on this earth from anyone else either. Cannot become who God created that person to be. Cannot be the child a childless couple would love to love. Cannot cure cancer, or whatever plan God had for that child. Abortion is probably the worst sin because it is murder of the innocent, from the very one God enlisted to love and protect, the mother. It is capital punishment of the innocent on the selfish whim of its mother as if she is Lord and God over the real Lord and God who alone should be the giver and taker of life.

As if murder ever made anything better. The guilt and pain of abortion has haunted many people for the rest of their lives. At least in the Old Testament, people believed they were killing their children for some good end, to appease a god. Abortion is murder, and it certainly isn’t for God.

Adoption is always a better option. It is a win for everyone involved. Give the baby to someone who wants it, will love and cherish it. Abortion is the ultimate in selfishness, hatred of one’s own child, denying one’s own child the most important and basic right of all, the right to live. That child could have a wonderful life in the home of adoptive parents and could find the cure for cancer, who knows what God has in mind for that child. “The Lord gives and takes away.” It is never the right of a human being to murder another, much less their own innocent child.

I agree with Wendy 100%. Adoption is always better than abortion. Juanita says things about children being sold into slavery, being abused, and black market adoptions that makes me think that Juanita would rather have them killed instead. Even though the above things are bad, killing the unborn to stop things like these from happening is just as bad.

“Even adoption can be a curse when women that insist on making women give their babies to them instead of murdering them they’ll tell them.”

If the woman was going to kill the baby, it would be better to put it up for adoption. A live baby is better than a dead one. And there are plenty of parents who are willing love the baby.

“When they just want a baby and they would lie and play on the conscious of other women to get them, Adoption should be done willingly, without a grudge or guilt and very prayerfully…”

Most legal adoptions are done willingly.

As has been said many times before, abortion is murder plain and simple. A baby is a human being weather born or unborn, and to kill him/her is murder. And God said in Exodus 20:13 “Thou shall not murder”.
